subjects that have the 101 appended to it means that it was an introductory course or a preparatory course to higher subjects. These were the basic courses that one should take before proceeding to a higher level.
Looking back, I have the memory of some of my classmates attempting to try and take this introductory or prerequisite courses together with the higher courses but were never allowed to, advised as they were of the importance of knowing the basics first.
Now, I know that everybody realizes the importance of these 101 courses. Just like in building a house, one should start by laying the foundation or the groundwork first. Only then can one proceed to erect the structure.
Which is why, if we are writing blog posts, we should have tucked inside our sleeves the fundamentals.
